The 12th edition of artgenève, held from January 25th to 28th, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the contemporary and modern art fair. Over the past years, artgenève has carved a niche for itself, becoming a prominent fixture in the European art calendar and a key player in the Swiss art market. This year’s edition not only solidified its reputation for fostering dynamic dialogues between established galleries, emerging artists, and esteemed institutions, but also transcended the traditional art fair experience by blurring the lines between music, technology, and visual art.

A Celebration of Global Galleries
and Diverse Artistic Voices

artgenève 2024 presented a curated selection of around 80 international modern and contemporary art galleries. Renowned names like Templon, Mennour, and Hauser & Wirth showcased exceptional works from Chiharu Shiota, Anish Kapoor, and Lorna Simpson, alongside the presentations from exciting galleries, such as the Italian P420 and its works by Pieter Vermeersch and Richard Nonas.

The fair also brought in prominent collections like the Fondation Thalie from Brussels, the Berlin-based Boros Collection, the Musée d’Art et d’Histoire de Genève, and the MAMCO. These additions offered historical context and a deeper understanding of the artistic movements that continue to influence contemporary practices.

Orchestral Innovation:
OSR icologram Takes Center Stage

Perhaps the most groundbreaking artistic experience at artgenève 2024 was not a physical installation but a technological marvel. The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (OSR) made history by presenting the world’s first-ever holographic symphonic concert. Developed in collaboration with icologram®, this innovative performance saw 73 musicians take virtual form within a dedicated “black box” space and deliver a captivating rendition of Mussorgsky’s “Pictures at an Exhibition.”

The 12th edition’s success lies in its devotion to creating a platform for artistic exchange, coupled with its commitment to supporting emerging talents and exploring new artistic frontiers. One can eagerly anticipate the artistic dialogues and discoveries that await at artgenève 2025.
